I got to thinking with the last couple brains cells I got left and ya know, there may be a darn good reason the Medics from 2 & 7 are so dog gone popular, because they are all so proficient !!!

Really easy. This shouldn't be a popularity contest but how well one performs their job. Especially since it sounded like they based it on performance & not popularity. And you wonder why I rarely make a comment on this board??? Seems everytime I do, I get bashed. Why bother? ? Bob, your record of posts on here hasn't been all that stellar. I don't care enough to look back to see, but the one that jumps to mind was a post commenting on Jackson. Many of us thought it was way out of line, that is all. If you are going to jump on here and mkae comments that are designed to get a response, then please don't whine about the response you get. This thread is titled Favorite Medic. It doesn't say what that is based on...personally, I don't care what you base it on...Zeger's off the wall antics and comments, Stottlemyer's gleaming dome OR their actual performance as an ALS provider. I base my opinions on a mixture of skill and attitude. MY personal experience is with either WSALS or Fayetteville ALS, and most of my experience with the 7 guys comes from working with them at places other than Da Ville. I'll take any Ville medic over most of the Chambersburg WSALS medics any day of the week, based on both skill and attitude. Like it or not, it is a popularity contest. Keep your head out of your ass and don't treat us like idiots at the same time, and we will get along just fine. Caff

I have run with Medics from all 3 places, honestly, I would chose the guys at Medic 1 over Medic 7, but overall most of the highest quality medics are with Medic 2. If might have to do with the fact that Medic 2 is harder to get into (fewer positions) & higher wages, the best deserves the best. But I think that all EMS personnel in this county are overworked & underpaid.
My favorites, Wayne, Ryan Byler, Dusty, Sparky, Bill Mowen, & Rick Mitchell.

I guess it is because you do not run with anybody else. Not putting down Medic 2 because they have goog medics but do not under estimate people unless you run with them chic. Let me guess you run with company 3 and that is not a bad thing.

2 things, I have no idea WHO you are Caff so please elighten me. #2, the post regarding Jackson wasn't about Jackson, it was about the Borough of Chambersburg not supplying sufficient manpower. I do regret dragging his name in it however & I do apologize to anyone that it may have upset. Jackson was a friend of mine as well & he provided me several photographs that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else.

sexyemschic,
Just checked your bio and seems a 22 year old, running in the south part of the county really does not have experience to render such a decision. Might be your opinion and that's fine, but how many times have you run calls with Medic 7?
I will say this, I have run in this county for 30 years, ran my fair share of EMS calls with every ALS provider in this county and I can say this, if I was forced to rank ALS services, it would be;
1. Tie between 2 and 7. 2. WSALS
I base that predominately on the providers, but also on the service/ coverage provided by the company overall.

GREAT QUESTION!
I like the dark beers. They seem to have more flavor!
I like Bourbon best! It really clears your sinus too! You also tend to forget just how sick you really are!
It would really be interesting to see just how far off topic we can really get!
How about it Les? You want to weigh in here?

Well I recently aquired a 38 year old bottle of Jim's best Green label. I bought to save it until it was fifty but hell my liver found out I had it in the house and he demanded equal oppourtunity. So me being an equal oppourtunity guy with an exclusive agreement with my liver we shared a bit of this fine aged burbon and let me tell you it doesn't get any better. According to me and my liver. ;D

If I had to rank I think Medic 2 would be at the top. I cant critique Medic 7 that well since I've only run a few calls with them which has been a few years ago. Although the attitude from the medics was border-line shitty but skill and professional wise definitely ok. Same goes for Medic 2 though... alot of "I'm better then you, your stupid, just get me vitals" kinda attitude. And no, itz not me.. call me arrogant but Im a pretty stellar and proficient provider wise beyond my certification level. Not co*cky only confident.
I have first-hand experience with West Shore and must say everyone there during my experience was very polite and professional and performed well. Im gonna venture out and say that West Shore carries a stigma for various reasons and doesnt get the credit it deserves. MedicBob, I always liked running with ya and thought of you as a good provider.
Itz been quite some time since Ive actually run in Franklin County but have definitely served many years as a provider and officer and being a career provider in Adams County, itz nice to have a comparison basis. Sorry guy's, but Medic 46 (Hanover ALS) is second to none and is one of the best groups of paramedics that I have run with based on skill, provider (ALS/BLS) interaction, and professionalism.

I have read this thread from it's inception.... way back when. I wasn't going to comment... but seeing that it has been brought back to life I'll add my thoughts. I was actually mentioned somewhere in here, and I'm flattered. But if I'm like the majority of medics that I know, I'm not interested in being recognized. Not that it's unappreciated. This industry is about teamwork... not individuality. I cannot effectively function as a paramedic without help, and that help comes from EMT's. I happen to work with some of the best BLS providers around, so I'm spoiled. But I think we need to get away from 'who's the best'. Every agency has those providers who seem to stand out. BLS and ALS. And every agency has those who need some work. But the bottom line is we have a job to do. We are public servants with a responsibility to the citizens we protect. Lets work together. I know some great providers from many agencies, both BLS and ALS. My list wouldn't fit on the page. So... I'm gonna hop off of my soap box now. Just remember, we are in this together. It's a team effort. Lets work together for the good of the industry. Thanks. Now... to the question that was posted by Chief 17: I have recently been converted from Coors Lite to Bud Lite. For what it's worth Stay safe.

Like M4L I was not going to post but finally got provoked into it (Remember, it's always wise to let sleeping dogs lie).
It doesnt matter if your talking about EMT's, Medics, FF's Cop's or shoe salesman, the common denominator is it only takes one bad experience to brand a bunch of em. Medic Jones of Companty A has a bad day and toasts an EMT suddenly those guys at A are all a bunch of jerks.
Lets focus on the important stuff like patient care.
See ya at the big one!
