As of Monday, 06 Jan 09, Engine Tanker 5, also known as SHAMU was permanently placed out of service.
Please look forward to having the new TANKER 5 bringing water to a fireground near you in the future(when i dont know, however it sounds good)

Has a new Tanker been ordered yet? Any idea on what they are specing out? Last I heard was they were spec'g a straight tanker on a Mack Granite chassis, but that's been a while back.

They are specing a straight tanker.......Not sure if the contract has been signed. If its not, its close. It will be on a Kenworth T-3000 chassis i believe with a 3000gallon tank.
I may be off on the T-3000 chassis but i do know it will be a kenworth.

jrff3,
Just some constructive advice from a dinosaur;
While it might be the norm to use the abbreviated grammar in texting, it's not on posting such as these.
Many will not read these posts as they're hard to follow etc.

I concur tag......................In regards to jrff3's question, i believe the chassis will be the Kenworth T-3000.
From the sounds of it, SHAMU has far outlasted the expectations originally set for it.
The elliptical will be a great addition to "the water company"

The unit is a Fort Garry Tanker on a Kenworth T800 chassis with a 525 HP cummins engine and 6 forward speed Allison transmission!! It will have a 3000 gallon tank with a 3000 gallon dump take. It will also have a mechanical 180 degree rear dump that swivels 180 degrees and extends 18 inches from the sides of the unit. It will be able to dump the water in around 50 seconds and will be equipped with a 500 GPM PTO pump and have two crosslays. That's some of the information and there will be more to follow as delivery gets closer. Looking at September October time frame!
