Just a small correction The fire policeman was from Chambersburg and not from the greater metropolitian Mercersburg area.
This another example that the job of the fire police is as dangerous as our jobs and they should be praised and respected for what they do for us on the scene of emergencies and other events.

Just saw this posted on another site. I cut and pasted the story and it stated that it's on www.thegazettenews.com My thoughts and prayers are also with all of Vinces friends and family. Chambersburg fire policeman struck by car after parade By TERRY TALBERT TheGazetteNews.com Staff Writer Oct. 31 – A Chambersburg fire policeman was struck by a car last night as he helped direct traffic following the Halloween Parade in Mercersburg. Sgt. Bill Sheppard of the Mercersburg Police Department said that Vincent Horst, 39, was at the intersection of Loudon Road and Keefer Drive when he attempted to stop a driver “who for unknown reasons didn’t see him until she was right on him,” and struck him. Sheppard said that Horst was flown by helicopter to Altoona Hospital for treatment of “moderate” injuries. Officials there said that he was listed in serious condition late this afternoon. The officer said that 52-year-old Karol Buckholtz of Hagerstown, Md. was driving south on Loudon Road at 9:39 p.m. when she hit Horst, who was partially in her lane of travel directing motorists. The officer said that Buckholtz was going about 30 mph at the time of accident, and that Horst was “thrown up on the hood of the vehicle” on impact. Police were continuing their investigation into the accident, and no charges had been filed as of late this afternoon. “We’re still talking to witnesses,” Sheppard said. He added that neither Buckholtz nor a 13-year-old boy in her car were injured. The parade had just ended and traffic in Mercersburg was “extremely tied up” at the time of the accident, according to Sheppard. “He was a volunteer fire policeman from Chambersburg who had come in to give us a hand directing traffic,” the officer said of Horst. Sheppard said that traffic was shut down in the entire area following the accident. Loudon Road and Landis Drive were two of the roads that were closed for approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours while officers investigated at the accident scene.

Yes!
Yes, they certainly do.
And we wish our special fire police officer a speedy recovery!
We understand he is now back in Franklin County recovering.
