Can someone refresh my memory..... my understanding about 2 or so years ago that there was a big memo that came out that Waynesboro and Chambersburg ER's could no longer go on divert status? I just heard that Waynesboro is on divert. My memory makes me think that this was something from EHSF or PADOH that no ER in either the region or state could go on divert, I remember that Gettysburg got into trouble for still using that status. Anyone know anything different??

From what ive gathered, Wboro can go on divert, it's just that there are a lot of people that have to approve the divert before it can happen (admins, the ehsf, and so on). The case the other night at Waynesboro is that the Waiting Room and ER were full, and there wasn't a single bed in the hospital for admissions.

It was explained to me that the facility has to impliment thier emergency disaster plan or something to go on "divert" status. Who knows?

I always heard it was just a local policy of Summit Health regarding ED divert. Not sure if that is true. The EHSF already has policy in place for hospital divert status and how would you consult with them at 2am? You can view the divert status of all region hospitals online that is updated in real time.
York, Hanover, and Gettysburg Hospital go on ED divert frequently when patient census dictates. Not really a big deal and makes no sense to "park" patients that can't be cared for in a timely manner, right?
