The following presentation will be hosted by the Abbottstown Volunteer Fire Company
On Thrusday March 23, 2006 at 1830 hours.
The Courage To Stay Safe! so- Everyone Goes Home!
A National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Life Safety
Initiatives Program!
Firefighters must have the courage to face a multitude
of risks in order to save lives and protect their communities. Their courage allows them to willingly risk their own lives so that others can be saved.
A different type of courage is required to stay safe in potentially dangerous situations, avoiding needless risks and tragic consequences. This provocative presentation, taught by Office of the State Fire
Commissioner staff, is designed to change the culture of accepting the loss of firefighters as a normal occurrence. This 3.5 hour program promotes the "courage to do the right thing" in order to protect yourself and other firefighters and ensure that "Everyone Goes Home" at the end of the day. Pennsylvania State Fire Academy
full-time staff and adjunct instructors will focus on the need for firefighters and officers to change fundamental attitudes and behaviors in order to prevent line of duty deaths in Pennsylvania and nationally.
This moving presentation also conveys the untold story
of LODD survivors in Pennsylvania and nationally, revealing how family members must live with the consequences of a firefighter death. The LODD survivors will tell their stories in their own words to explain the impact of a fatality on the firefighter's family, friends
and coworkers. Their message is intended to change attitudes and cause firefighters to modify dangerous behaviors.
If you want to stay safe, care about the safety of
your fellow firefighters, and are willing to stand-up for safety, then you need to attend this program and learn how you can make a difference!
All are encouraged to attend.
