Oh ye' that swallows in the mud, stand up and be accounted. (Another slinger that hides and does not sign their name) A. I think you will find historically that the Fire Chiefs Association meeting has met on a rotation at various departments, in the county EOC, and Tag can correct me, but they seem to have fairly good representation at the Chambersburg location (central) and most likely the meeting will move to the Public Safety Training Center soon. B. I have attended very few Fire Chiefs meetings and only as an official from Franklin County during my employment there by direction of the Director. C. I have NO, NONE, NADA, NEGATORY ON THAT as far as running the organization. I think the current leadership has made some fantastic strides over the past few years. Hopefully, they will keep a Chairperson for more than a few months in order to maintain some consistancy. In my opinion, the constant turnover in the leadership role has been their biggest challenge, but remember, many of the Chairpersons have been chief officers in their local department while attempting to handle countywide issues that may not have direct impact on their department. However, I will continue to serve on the Franklin County Emergency Service Alliance that is looking for methods to educate and promote emergency services to the local municipalities. In this role, I will continue to promote ideas, readings, and concepts outside the box to help provide the municipal leaders with alternatives to taxing their constitiuates. The volunteer service is at a challenging cross roads. Due to the many challenges that face todays service providers, unfunded mandates, standards and codes that are constantly changing, people working multiple jobs, and a host of other problems outlined in the Red Ribbon report available on www.vcos.org that addresses issues experienced by other organizations. I will continue to serve when asked, based upon my time available. I will continue to support the leadership of the Fire Chiefs Association, EMS Council, Franklin County Fire Police to make our small section of the service better for those that want to make a difference and provide an efficient and safe fire and EMS response. Stay safe, Don Eshleman, Jr.

OK, here we go!
swallows:
(noun) any of numerous small widely distributed oscine birds (family Hirundinidae) that have a short bill, long pointed wings, and often a deeply forked tail and that feed on insects caught on the wing, the passage connecting the mouth to the stomach, an aperture in a block on a ship between the sheave and frame through which the rope reeves
(verb) to take through the mouth and esophagus into the stomach, to envelop or take in as if by swallowing, to accept without question, protest, or resentment <swallow an insult> <a hard story to swallow>, TAKE BACK, RETRACT <had to swallow my words>, to keep from expressing or showing : REPRESS <swallowed my anger>, to utter (as words) indistinctly, intransitive senses
Did you perhaps mean, "wallows?"
(intransitive verb) to roll oneself about in an indolent or ungainly manner, to billow forth : SURGE, to devote oneself entirely; especially : to take unrestrained pleasure : DELIGHT, to become abundantly supplied : LUXURIATE <a family that wallows in money>, to indulge oneself immoderately <wallowing in self-pity>, to become or remain helpless <allowed them to wallow in their ignorance>
"Oh ye that wallows in the mud, stand up and be accounted."
What say you governor?
Who said that this boad can't have a little humor?

Sounds like a decent thing to do "rotate meetings", but honestly how many of you guys would wanna run up our way just for a meeting?

point well taken but i thought it would be food for thought !!!!!! I trhink this would be a little comrade for the chiefs to get together at each others station and maybe meet some folks while they are strolling through to the meeting.. insted of where the heck is metal fire or south mountain. no pun intended but some department chiefs have never been to your departments

Many, many years ago the meetings rotated between the stations.
The decision was then made to hold them at the EOC and they were held there for many years until there was a "security concern" and we needed to find a different location.
The meetings have been held at Sta 4 as they graciously offered the use of their facility.
Eventually, the meetings will be held in the classroom of the training center classroom/ office building once completed.
The decision was a majority decision, as are all decisions of the Association. If there is a feeling that this needs to be changed, bring it to the Association meeting and we'll vote on it.
