The request was made to "sound the evacuation drill" we have roof collapse. Did not hear Evacuation Tone being sounded, maybe I missed it over all the radio traffic. Did hear a few OUT OF COUNTY UNITS lost again though.
Sounds like 19 got to come out of the tunnel and play!!

I would love to know how info gets out so quick? Yes the tones were hit and a message relayed. The tones were put out on the fireground channel (3). Not sure why if you monitored it would not have come through. However, when the request was made by command, I sounded the tones and repeated the message. Any other questions let me know! One other thing, before this post did any speak with anyone in command to see if the tones went out? Or was this just another attempt to "burn" communications? Just asking!

Don't read into the post Dave, I mearly stated that the evacuation tone was never heard from where I was, as stated, alot of radio traffic at that time, in which I may have missed it. No one was bashing County EOC for anything. And If I had any questions or conserns, believe me, I would address them whith the with the parties involves!

My apologies gentleman! I (as Tag stated), asked the question. As you know though, it all starts with the question. I was merely advising that, although i make my share of mistakes,(as you know Clyde, and we have spoke about before) I do whatever i need to do to make it easier for everyone while i am working a channel. It is tough though to keep a good attitude when the behind the scenes comments that people make turn into bashing. I know that if i s"screw up", both you and Tag would let me know so that i can correct it. The bashing and "burning" don't help anything and only makes things worse between D.E.S and the agencies we dispatch. I wasn't taking anything out of text. I was asking to make sure the bashing didn't start. Especially form others who write on here and do not know what they area talking about. So i apologize to you both. Till we meet on the big one! Have a good day!!

Bashing and taking things out of context that wouldn't happen here. People who do not know what they are talking about writing oh that wouldn't happen here either. LOL come on Dave we all know this is a perfect setting and nothing bad happens here. OUCH I just smacked my head on the wall. What was I thinking. Some feel a screen name gives them the green light to be an asshole. Oh Well it's all good in the neighborhood!

The Incident Commander (Trayer Stoops) had orderd the evacuation of the structure due to the roof collapse. Communications immediately acknowledged the request and alterted the tones and made the verbal announcement for all FF's to evacuate the building.
At the time of the evacuation there was two FF's attempting to make an entry into the front door. At that point the found that the roof had collapsed and gave that information to the operational officer who relayed that information to the incident commander.
As Fire Chief I was not on the intial fire due to being at our Assistant Fire Chief's Fathers funneral in Quincy. I arrived shortly after the evacuation tone was alerted.
My thanks to Trayer Stoops for his experience in taking command and managing the incident scene.
Also my thanks to all those volunteers that helped that day. We had to takle some pressure from some civililans making comments to the media about our response tiime. In checking with DES from the time they received the call until our first engine was on the scene it was 4 minutes. NOT BAD RESPONSE time for a day time incident.
The house was destroyed and cause was determined to be electrical and started in the basement.
Thanks again for those that responded and the folks at DES for the assistance.
