The fires that stick out to me were at arson fires in Honodel’s Trail Park (Box Area 4-02). It stated with two-house fires, than every night the kid burnt a mobile home. The second or third night is when he killed the young mother and two kids. There were four guys that turn in their gear that night and never came back. That was way before debriefings. This went on for 6 or 7 nights until be set his own trailer on fire. He went to jail for a few years and he out now.
The fun ones were: train derailment and Haz-Mat in Waynecastle 1979, Antrim House (both times), the Hill Top Bar, Benders, ISP grit mill, Frick Company and the David’s house fire on Old Route 16 where the kid jump through the picture window, so he had 2ed and 3ed degree burns and was all cut up by the glass. No one turn off the power and we were inside making an attack and things got a little tingly. Waynesboro had four in the cab of the old tanker and 8 on the tailboard.

As far as dispatching, without a doubt CWP!!!! I am not sure how many exactly, but i must have said Chambersburg Waste Paper at least 40 times between the alarms and special calls! Also the first night Cerrone let me dispatch my first fire call. Vision Quest for i believe the washhouse fire!! As far as fires in general, of course my first as Asst. Chief. 5 S. Washington St. apt bldg fire. Good way to get broke in. I was also at Ollies and and got my big a$$ feet in a size 10 boot!!! Long story, don't ask. Remember staging for Washington House fire and watching pieces of wood floating down Lincoln Way in front of the courthouse! The worst though was the triple fatal on Franklin St. Long sad morning. : (

A fire but not a big one, a car fire in Pleasant Hall, we had made a up our minds who was doing what on the way to it but when the wagon driver pulled in it blocked off the other side so that hand line could not be pulled, so I grabbed the line on my side and took off with it, as I am going up to it I hear Jim Sikes yell at me "where you going", when I hit it he said it looked like I was going to crawl in the backseat to get at it. I guess you had to be there, but it was a fun one.
