I agree getting a new tower was the right move i mean yea it may be smaller than the old one but the things it comes equiped with it are better than the old one plus like was said in the previous post there are alot of reasons that we couldnt buy a bigger tower it accomidates the station very nice and it is also a nice looking truck and besides the buildings in Waynesboro are small so the ladder is perfect for most of all the buildings in town. As for the Township area with all the building going on we have alot of help with surrounding companies i mean yea some of the buildings may be taller than our ladder can go but as long as it gets the job done and gets the fire out that is all that matters. So you really shouldnt down a company just because they buy a smaller ladder truck as long as the firefighters are saving lives and protecting their communities that is really all that matters it should not be just about the size of the truck its about the people who risk their lives to save a house and/or a family like Co.2's slogan says"We strive to save" thats wat it is really about so next time someone gets a new appuratus dont go aroung saying you spent all that money on something small than wat you got ride of because you never know one day something small could be saving your house or ever you

PFF, very good points...I think. I do have two words for you, though -- Punctuation and Capitalization. It makes your messages much easier to read and people can actually take you seriously. Caff (Hey, at least you didn't use CAPSLOCK. I wouldn't have even bothered to read it.)

We believe that perhaps what he meant was this:
I agree that getting a new tower was the right move. Yes, it may be smaller than the old one but the things it comes equipped with are better than the old one. Besides that, which was said in the previous post, there are a lot of reasons that we couldn't buy a bigger tower. It accommodates the station very nice and is also a nice looking truck. Also, the buildings in Waynesboro are small so the ladder is perfect for most of all the buildings in town. As for the Township area with all the building going on we have a lot of help with surrounding companies. Yes, some of the buildings may be taller than our ladder can reach but as long as it gets the job done and gets the fire out that is all that matters. So you really shouldn't down a company just because they buy a smaller ladder truck as long as the firefighters are saving lives and protecting their communities. This is really all that matters. It should not be just about the size of the truck, but about the people who risk their lives to save a house and/or a family. As Co.2's slogan says, "We strive to save." Thats what it is really about! Therefore, the next time someone gets a new piece of apparatus, don't go around saying that you spent all that money on something smaller than what you got rid of. You never know, one day something small could be saving your house or ever you.
Always try to help and support our brothers.

Well let do some math! The Supthen measures there ladders are from the base of the ladder to the tip. Tower 2 is about six feet from the ground to the turntable. Then add the bucket (to the floor) around two feet. Let’s add it up, 70” + 6”+2”= 78 feet total. So in the end we have three feet more than the old tower.
As for the growth in the community that is what building codes and zoning are for! We as a fire service have left developers build second rate houses and monster building in area with no hydrants. We need to voice the importance of planning review to the borough councils and township supervisors, for the safety of the public. If we just sit back and just get handed a plate full of shit - then happy eating. Sorry just my little soapbox.
I feel that our tower is the right truck for the money and job. It has been put to the test a couple of times in the past few weeks and did just fine. The old tower would only run about 42 MPH and the new like to run! (42 is somewhere in third gear).

I just want to say that at this mornings fire, Tower 2 proved its worth. I worked from the platform for approx. 2 hours and loved every minute of it. The tower makes it very easy for 2 people to work both manual and hydraulic overhaul, as well as flowing water during firefighting operations. As far as the reach, I had no problems today.

Tower 2 did step up to the plate yesterday morning in that apartment fire. I think that the money the company spent on that truck was well spent. And I agree with you D/C 2-2 the new ladder truck does have alot of advantages that the old one doesn't have and personally I think that it showed its worth at the building fire the other morning. And volunteer you guys did a good job at that fire. I commend all the companies on a job well done of not letting the fire jump to surrounding buildings you guys did a wonderful job. Good work guys!
