As reported by: Liz Vargo The Record Herald
A fire left a home at 56 Linden ave. Without a roof this morning as firefighters continued to attack the smoldering blaze that broke out in an attic. Jeanette Cain said she was alerted to the fire by a neighbor around 8:30 am. "I walked out side and got hit by smoke" said CainThe cause is believed to be electrical, but that has not been confirmed, said M.M.P&W. Fire Chief Dusty Stoner. Firefighters had to cut away a portion of the roof toget to the blaze, and the windows on the front of the home were all broken. The home sustained heavy water damage to all the floors and will require major repairs. Cain, who has home owners' insurance, praised firefighters quick response to the blaze. Cain's children had already left for school by the time the fire was discoverd. A cat managed to escape the flames. MMP&W was being assisted by fire departments from Chambersburg, Maugansville, St. Thomas, Greencastle, and McConnellsburg.
