What is the average call time for a trip to White Tail? I know it takes quite a while to get up the mountain and then back down to Washington County Hospital but does anyone actually know the time?

Generally for a normal BLS run, from the station to the Resort then to the Hospital and then back to Station you can usually do it at just under two hours.
Usually we're not at WhiteTail for more than 10 minutes, the clinic staff generally has the patient ready to go when we get there.

Yep it sure puts me in the Holiday Spirit. Just like looking for a parking space at the mall while christmas shopping.

My thoughts of holiday spirit would have to be trying to find a spot to back the ambulance in to at the emergency room while coming from White Tail.

Lately at the local hospitals even if you find a parking space right away you can count on a 15 or 20 min wait for a bed inside, Waynesboro isn't as bad but still...... I know the ER's are busy, but they need to remember to get us EMS people out quick, we need to get back to our first due areas which could be up to 40 min away depending on where you are and which hospital you go to. The citizens depend on EMS, if we're tied up waiting for beds & have to respond from outside the 1st due if we can't get a second unit out, that's not exceptable to the citizens who don't understand the Emergency Medicine pratices.

chic,
It only gets worse, not better. If they free us up faster, then we bring more patients to them faster. We wouldn't want that to happen, right?
Be thankful, it's ONLY 15 minutes. A few weeks ago, we waited an HOUR and 15 minutes (no exaggeration) at Harrisburg Hospital ED. And they weren't apologetic.
Maybe it is the ED staff that doesn't understand Emergency Medical practices.

I think that the ED staff somewhat understands but more so that they don't care. If they delay patients then they see less patients in their shift & this allows for the patients to wait to be taken from triage until after shift change. I wouldn't have waited for an hour, after 20 minutes I start finding the charge nurses, and bug the heck out of them until they find a bed & someone to take report. Maybe that's part of why ER Nurses hate EMS, but I don't have time to waste waiting on them if we need to get back into first due!!

I feel bad for everyone at MMPW who's been at Whitetail most of this past week. I am guessing that you guys have been there more than you were at home based on the number of calls this weekend, you even flew one today I hear. Only a few more weeks, hang in there!!!!!!!!!1
