After reading this article online today I was very upset with Waynesboro's Ambulance Chief's decision to give the press information on the patient's condition. I have always been taught since day 1 of EMT class that under no circumstance do you ever give information of the condition of a patient to the press. That job is for the police or the coroner. Whenever fire departments release press statement's I have never seen one that listed specifics information on a patient, it's always minor or severe injuries.

WAYNE HEIGHTS - A sledding accident Wednesday night at Hooverville Elementary School claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman.
Amanda Kay Bowders of 12078 Blue Mountain Ave. in Rouzerville was sledding with friends when she hit a pole supporting a metal backstop on the Hooverville playground, according to Washington Township police.
Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner said Bowders died at 10:09 p.m. in the Waynesboro Hospital emergency room.
"This is such a tragedy - a young lady who had her whole life ahead of her,” said Dr. Gloria Pugliano, assistant superintendent of the Waynesboro Area School District.
“We certainly express our condolences to the family,” said WASD Superintendent Barry Dallara, who visited the accident site earlier this morning.
A 2006 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, Bowders took college-prep courses and played bass clarinet in the marching band.
Bowders was a customer service agent at Encore Marketing in Blue Ridge Summit.
“She was a wonderful person and employee,” said Carole Hunt, a director with Encore.
A tragic accident
Washington Township police said they were dispatched to 10829 Buchanan Trail East at 9:34 p.m. for a report of a sledding accident.
Officers said they found Bowders lying unconscious on the ground and provided first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Chief Anthony Todd of the Waynesboro Ambulance Squad said ambulances and Medic II crews responded.
Bowders received treatment at the scene, en route to the hospital and in the hospital emergency room, he noted.
Todd said Bowders suffered blunt-forced trauma to the upper torso.
An autopsy will be performed tomorrow morning in Allentown, according to Conner.
Police said conditions at Hooverville were icy at the time of the accident.
