The PA Department of Agriculture Farm Safety and Occupational Health grant applications are now open for PA FY07-08. The 2006 application period closes by the end of October.
The Small Grant Program provides up to $2,500 per eligible entity per year for:
-Projects relating to the prevention or mitigation of farm accidents
-Educational programs relating to agricultural equipment safety and first aid for farm youth
-Farm safety day camps and demonstrations
-Farm fire safety instruction
-Training programs related to emergency response (including farm rescue training)
-Age-appropriate adult and farm worker training
Links to the application package as well some information on preparing a successful grant are posted at www.agrescue.com. Please take a moment to review the information pages to assist you in developing your grant proposal. This program is available to public safety agencies within PA.
I am familiar with this grant program and can offer assistance and guidance on what these grant programs can be used for, etc. You can either email or post questions here. There is also a Q&A forum for interested parties to ask questions and share information. (Please note that you must register to access the forum area. Registration is free and immediately allows you access to the forums.)
I will note one of the BIG differences with this grant program is that it is not just an equipment grant; some sort of related training is a required component of the potentially successful grant application.
