SB10 is to be brought for a vote in the Senate next week and there will be a press conference Monday at noon in the Media Center. SB10 is the State Grant authorization bill. It includes an amendment TO MAKE THE PROGRAM PERMANENT IN PA WITH A SUNSET REVIEW AFTER FIVE YEARS.
This is significant legisaltion that benefits the volunteer fire and ems community. The Grants are funded from the Slots receipts, so we have permanent funding and this bill gives us a guarantee of five years of authorized and funded grants.
The Senate is requesting we seek Fire and EMS uniformed personnel to attend the press conference and a FIRE OFFICER TO SPEAK at the conference telling the press how important the grant has been and is to his/her department. It will be short, but they are looking for the Chief or Officer to just tell why the passage of this bill is so important to their department.
If you are able to help us out or know of someone that can articulat e the value of the program as detailed above, CONTACT THE PFESI OFFICE NOW at 1-800-fireline. If, when you call, you get the voice mail, leave your name and a telephone number where we can reach you. I can also be reached on cellphone at 610-299-0756.
I realize it is short notice, and it always is, but anything you can do to help us out will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry. I'm usually in your camp, but not on this one.
Just because Fire & EMS benefit from something thats wrong for PA, doesn't magically make it right. This is just more smoke and mirrors from the Governor.
