Looking for view points on the pros and cons between using Washer Extractors vs Commercial Front End Load washing machines for cleaning turnout gear.
Have heard from various folks in the buisness pros and cons for both. Would like to hear from departments that currently use either and their recommendations based on current use.
Thanks

Chief,
The NFVFD purchased a Continental washer-extractor last year. Although expensive at $8,000 the washer can be used for just about anything from running gear, clothes, to towels and blankets. Their are many settings for each application with the use of laundry detergent, bleach, gear cleaner, etc. We have had no problems thus far. Our washer is a 30lb. washer, which will wash up to 3 sets of gear at a time. The washer is very quiet, and simple to use.
We also purchased a Drygear Professional 4 station gear dryer. This dries gear with forced heated air from the inside out, which dries gear in 1 hr. or less.
