Firefighter – Testing
Human Resources at 301-766-4085
8/22/2007 Closing date
The City of Hagerstown will be conducting a recruitment and testing process for Firefighter with the City of Hagerstown Fire Department. Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED, be at least 18 years old, be eligible for a Maryland Class A driver's license and able to meet the requirements contained in the City Driver Safety Policy. The hiring process will consist of a written exam, physical agility test, oral interviews and a comprehensive background investigation. The current starting salary of $33,800 with attractive benefits package increases to $38,522 after one year of satisfactory employment. The written test will be given on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All tests will be given at the Hagerstown Community College, 11400 Robinwood Drive, Science Bldg. Room 117, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Parking available at no charge in Parking Lot K. Interested candidates need to pre-register for taking the test by calling Human Resources at 301-766-4085, M-F between 8:30 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. Seating limited. Bring a valid photo ID. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early…No admittance after the test begins. EOE
As a side note NO EMS transport and not likely in the immediate future. We do respond as first responder on priority calls and to assist with lifting. Several retirements coming in the next two years.
I'll be happy to answer any question if possible. We have at least 2 openings at this time with another possibly by the first of the year. City Council also has 9 new jobs in the budget set for February ( if we get all 9). All will be hired at once and put threw a 2 month probie school. The written test will be followed by a physical agility test at a later date for the top 50 or so. Everyone passing that will then get an interview and the three tests will be totaled and everyone will be ranked.
