To all;
In light of the most recent line of duty deaths of Firefighter Brad Holmes of the Pine Township Engine Company, Mercer County and Firefighter Nick Picozzi Jr. of the Lower Chichester Fire Department, Delaware County. Additionally in honor of the 26 firefighters who have died nationally this year. Five of which were brother Pennsylvania Firefighters.
I am asking you to take a few minutes and gather your troops to take 30 minutes to an hour and have an open and honest discussion about safety.
Look, I know and you know that I have no authority to tell you what to or when to do it. I am asking you to do this because I truly care about you, your families and the impact that a line of duty death has on so many people.
I know the job we do is dangerous and sometimes even we do everything right, things go wrong and a brother or sister will die in the line of duty.
I realize that all of you are busy with day to day living and all the things it takes to keep the firehouse going. But I can think of no better way to honor all of our brothers and sisters who have died in the line of duty. Than to take some time to offer a moment of silence for all who have made the ultimate sacrifice and engage in an open and honest discussion about safety.
You can find a great deal of material that can help you make this pretty easy to do by going to the following sites: You can find plenty of material to help you get the conversation started.

Please don't do it because I'm asking you to, do it for you and your family because at the end of the day it is all about your family!
Thanks
